Meet Kim
Journalist
Kim has spent nearly two decades working in television news, where she has thrived in the fast paced, 24 hour breaking news environment. She began her career as a Videojournalist at CNN, coordinating news coverage with bureaus all over the world. She's helped cover some of the biggest news stories of the 21st century, and was awarded an Emmy for her contributions to CNN's coverage of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Activist
In 2010, Kim joined the fight for Marriage Equality, organizing volunteers to make phone calls, write letters and march. She was a founding board member of the White Roof Project, an environmental non-profit aimed at reducing the threat of climate change. She spent two years as the Legislative Committee Chair of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, lobbying elected officials in Albany and fighting for gun safety throughout the state. When a gunman opened fire and killed 17 people at Kim's alma mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, she worked with fellow graduates to mobilize former students and push for tougher gun laws.
Leader
When Kim became frustrated with the lack of political engagement in her neighborhood, she, along with some friends, founded the Four Freedoms Democratic Club. The following year she ran for Democratic District Leader on a platform of reform and transparency, and won against a longtime incumbent. Since being elected Kim has led a reform movement within the Manhattan Democratic Party, fighting for stronger ethics rules, and pushing for a ban on paid lobbyists in party leadership positions. She has also recruited dozens of people to run for County Committee, the most local elected office in New York.
Community Advocate
This past Summer, Kim worked with the COVID Foundation to assemble PPE kits and distribute them to local residents in Yorkville, East Harlem and on Roosevelt Island. In 2019 she founded Yorkville Buy Local, an advocacy group that works to promote and protect local small businesses. As a District Leader, Kim often connects local residents to their elected officials and helps them navigate the various city agencies, sometimes even submitting requests on their behalf. She's a regular volunteer at the 82nd Street Green Market, and she's also volunteered at Carl Schurz Park, the Yorkville Common Pantry, the Stanley Isaacs Neighborhood Center, and with the Roosevelt Island Disabled Association.
